Our SUP Yoga classes are 90 minutes long, and are the perfect little taste to get your feet wet in the sport of Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga!

Challenge your balance, gain a different perspective of your yoga practice, enjoy the beautiful outdoors and try something new! This class includes an introductory paddle lesson, then onto the boards, start with a guided meditation, then a guided yoga session on the boards. You can expect a little bit of play time to paddle or try out your favourite yoga pose that you want to attempt on the boards.

Students must be able to swim and sign the waiver.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR SUP YOGA!

Will I get wet? 


Probably, at least a little bit – hands and feet for sure, but probably more. Water rolls over the board and we will do poses on our knees and bellies. There is also the possibility of falling (or jumping!) into the water.

What should I wear?


There is always a chance you may fall in the water so consider what fabric your clothes are made from – active wear / quick dry is best. NO COTTON!!! You will be most comfortable in the same kind of clothing that you would wear to a class in the hot studio. If the weather is hot and you know you want to swim, wear a bathing suit. Always bring additional quick dry layers of clothing and consider a wind/water resistant layer on top if it is chilly. A hat is a good idea too.

Where do we meet for class?

We start our classes on the boathouse at Boulevard Lake. PLEASE arrive 15 minutes prior to your class to get your board ready so we can start on time.

How will I find you?

We will be out front of the boathouse, please park in the parking lot.

What to leave at home or locked in your vehicle?

  • Cell phone
  • Camera – unless waterproof
  • Expensive sunglasses
  • Watch

Pretty much anything you do not wish to ‘donate’ to the bottom of the lake! *Please note that Moksha Yoga Thunder Bay and it’s Instructors are NOT responsible for lost or stolen items while on the water or left in vehicles.

  • Layers
  • Hat
  • An adventurous spirit! ** Please note: You must have submitted the online SUP Yoga Waiver and Release form PRIOR to attending your first class. You only need to submit this waiver one time.


What if I can’t swim? 

ALL participants must be able to swim; what this means is you must be comfortable if you fell off your board that you can make it back to your board and get back on.

Do I need to wear a PFD?

Transport Canada requires every Stand Up Paddler to have a PFD & Whistle on their board when paddling. (whistles provided)

What if it rains?

Lessons will still run in light rain/wind. Lessons will ONLY be cancelled day of if conditions are not conducive to the participant’s safety.
